About this role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead commercial interior construction projects from contract award through final closeout. This role requires hands-on experience managing commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related interior finish scopes .
The Project Manager will have ownership of scheduling, budgeting, procurement, project financials, field coordination, change management, subcontractor performance, and client relationships . The ideal candidate understands specialty interior construction and can successfully manage multiple projects while maintaining control of cost, schedule, quality, and field execution.
This is a hands-on project leadership position for someone who can work effectively with field crews, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to deliver profitable, high-quality projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, flooring, and related interior construction projects from contract award through completion and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, manpower forecasts, and execution strategies.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project schedules to verify requirements and identify potential issues.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents, Foremen, field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, general contractors, and clients.
- Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, job costs, labor productivity, forecasting, billing, change orders, and profitability.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, pay applications , and other project documentation.
- Coordinate procurement of materials and equipment, including tracking long-lead items and delivery schedules.
- Monitor labor requirements and field productivity to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate safety, quality, productivity, installation progress, and schedule performance.
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with owners, architects, general contractors, field leadership, and internal teams.
- Identify potential cost, schedule, scope, procurement, and field risks and develop proactive solutions.
- Review project scope and contract documents to identify change-order opportunities and potential cost exposures.
- Support field operations by ensuring crews have the drawings, materials, information, and resources required for efficient installation.
- Coordinate with estimating and operations teams to ensure an accurate transition from estimating into project execution.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier performance and resolve issues affecting cost, quality, or schedule.
- Oversee punch-list completion, warranty requirements, project turnover, final documentation, and closeout.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Project Management experience in commercial interior construction.
- Required: Direct experience managing commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior finish projects.
- Strong understanding of specialty interior construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, materials, and field operations.
- Proven ability to manage commercial construction projects from startup through final closeout.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, procurement, billing, labor productivity, change orders, and cost control .
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project schedules.
- Experience coordinating Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, general contractors, and clients.
- Strong understanding of project financials and the factors affecting project profitability.
- Ability to identify scope gaps, cost exposure, scheduling conflicts, and potential change-order opportunities.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project , or similar construction management software preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
