Summary
The Warehouse Operations Manager provides operational leadership for warehouse and inventory-control activities across the Plano and Rowlett facilities, as well as associated outside warehouse and third-party logistics operations. The role is accountable for consistent warehouse processes, inventory accuracy, employee performance, productivity, material movement, safety, service, and cost performance across both locations. This position implements policies, standards, metrics, systems, and improvement initiatives that strengthen warehouse and inventory-management capabilities while supporting reliable service to internal and external customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage warehouse and inventory-control operations across the Plano and Rowlett facilities, ensuring consistent execution of receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, shipping, returns, transfers, cycle counting, and inventory-control processes.
- Establish and implement consistent operating procedures, standards, metrics, and performance expectations across both locations to improve safety, inventory accuracy, productivity, quality, service, and cost performance.
- Coordinate staffing, workload, equipment, storage capacity, warehouse layout, and material flow between Plano and Rowlett; regularly assess operating requirements and implement changes to improve utilization and efficiency.
- Manage inventory-control activities across company and outside warehouse locations, including inventory tracking, analysis, auditing, reporting, reconciliation, cycle counts, physical inventories, and investigation of discrepancies, shortages, damage, excess, and obsolete materials.
- Coordinate interplant material movement and inventory transfers between Plano, Rowlett, outside warehouses, suppliers, and customers, ensuring accurate system transactions and timely material availability.
- Manage relationships and operating performance of outside warehouses, 3PL providers, carriers, and logistics partners, including inventory accuracy, service levels, storage and handling costs, reporting requirements, corrective actions, and issue resolution.
- Lead, coach, and develop warehouse employees and supervisors at both locations; establish staffing plans, schedules, performance expectations, training requirements, and accountability for safety, attendance, productivity, accuracy, and teamwork.
- Partner with Purchasing, Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, and other stakeholders on inventory planning, scheduling, forecasting, reconciliation, material availability, and operational priorities across both facilities.
- Utilize ERP, WMS, reporting tools, and operational data to monitor performance, identify trends and constraints, prioritize improvement opportunities, and implement initiatives that improve warehouse and inventory-management effectiveness.
- Lead continuous-improvement initiatives across both facilities to improve material flow, warehouse utilization, inventory controls, productivity, service, and cost while resolving escalated operational issues requiring cross-functional coordination.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, inventory control, or related operations.
- Three or more years of supervisory or management experience in warehouse, distribution, inventory, or logistics operations.
- Experience supporting or managing operations across multiple facilities, warehouses, or operating locations.
- Experience managing outside warehouses, 3PL providers, carriers, or other logistics partners.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse processes, material movement, interplant logistics, and inventory-management practices.
- Experience with ERP and/or warehouse management systems, inventory reporting, operational metrics, and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure
- Experience in a manufacturing or multi-site warehouse environment.
- Experience with inventory planning, forecasting, auditing, and reconciliation.
- Experience developing and implementing warehouse KPIs, standard operating procedures, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- OSHA knowledge and forklift certification or experience overseeing powered industrial truck operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, distribution, and material-flow processes.
- Ability to manage operations and establish consistent standards across multiple locations.
- Ability to develop and use operational metrics to manage inventory accuracy, service, productivity, safety, and cost.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Strong people-management, coaching, and performance-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams and external service providers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance priorities across Plano and Rowlett.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to use ERP/WMS data and reporting tools to support operational decisions.
Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for the majority of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or climb. In addition requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
