Finance Manager

Growth Marketing Finance is looking for a Finance Manager to join its Financial Planning & Analysis team, serving as the finance business partner for Expedia Group's Brand Awareness portfolio. This role is the financial connective tissue across some of EG's most visible and complex marketing investment — spanning upper-funnel Brand Media, Sponsorships, Demand Generation, Global Communications, PR, Influencer/Creator, Creative production, and media agency economics.

Do you have a passion for brand and upper-funnel marketing economics and the ability to translate complex, multi-channel spend into clear commercial insight? Are you energized by working across creative, comms, and sponsorship teams who think differently than traditional performance marketers? Do you know how to build trust with senior stakeholders while holding firm on financial governance? Then this role is for you.

What you will do:

Financial Planning, Forecasting & Close

·  Own annual planning, quarterly outlooks, and monthly close across all Brand Awareness channels — Brand Media, DG, Sponsorships, Global Communications, PR, Influencer/Creator, and Creative production

·  Maintain brand-, market-, and channel-level spend views by working and non-working category, ensuring accurate load and reconciliation to central finance targets

·  Perform variance analysis on actuals versus plan and forecast, translating drivers into clear narratives for channel leaders and senior finance stakeholders

·  Manage close and accrual processes, including Brand Media reclasses, accrual submissions, PO versus AP cutoff alignment, and invoice timing across agencies and vendors

·  Partner with Accounting, Procurement, and AP teams to ensure financial controls are applied consistently across all spend categories

Brand Media & Sponsorships

·  Serve as the finance business partner for Brand Media and Sponsorships, supporting investment cases, deal structures, rights fee evaluation, payment scheduling, and forecast pacing for major partnerships (e.g. sports, entertainment, licensing)

·  Govern working versus non-working classification for sponsorship elements — including media components, activation, IP/rights, and production — and resolve classification ambiguities across brands and markets

·  Partner with the OMD media agency team on SOW governance, agency fee reconciliation, committed spend tracking, procurement alignment, and scope change evaluation

·  Support contract, CARF, PO, and invoice approvals for media and sponsorship commitments, confirming budget availability and ensuring compliance with finance governance standards

DG, Global Communications & Influencer/Creator

·  Support Demand Generation budget ownership, including working media forecasts, transfers, incremental approvals, and unallocated budget management across brands

·  Own the non-working budget view across Global Communications, PR, Creative, Research, Sponsorships, and influencer/creator support costs — and maintain baseline, reduction, and uncommitted-initiative scenarios for leadership

·  Govern influencer and creator finance, including working spend (paid amplification, whitelisting, dark posts, creator content distribution) and non-working costs (talent management, retainers, licensing, travel, legal, and operations), ensuring clear classification and accurate forecasting

·  Partner with Global Comms, PR, and organic social teams on budget governance, accruals, and spend pacing across communications activations, media relations, and PR-adjacent campaigns

·  Manage Creative production finance, including agency fees, OOH production, and campaign development costs, and support purchase approvals and requisitions across creative vendor and agency spend

Reporting, Governance & Executive Support

·  Build and maintain executive-ready reporting on Brand Awareness budget, forecast, commitments, risks, and trade-offs — across brands (BEX, HCOM, Vrbo) and by channel and cost type

·  Develop integrated campaign financial support, from investment case through post-campaign readout, covering media, sponsorships, PR, organic, influencer, and creative components

·  Provide finance guidance on non-working versus working spend framework evolution, particularly as influencer, creator, and Global Comms classifications continue to develop

·  Challenge investment choices using brand measurement frameworks, reach and awareness metrics, campaign effectiveness data, and brand-health indicators — not only short-term ROAS

·  Support senior leadership decisions on sponsorship investments, reallocations, budget trade-offs, and scenario planning, providing clear and timely financial context

Who you are:

·  Advanced analytical, modeling, and forecasting skills; Advanced Excel required, SQL experience preferred

·  Experience in brand, media, or marketing finance; familiarity with working versus non-working budget frameworks strongly preferred

·  Ability to manage complexity across multiple channels, stakeholders, and cost categories simultaneously — without losing accuracy or commercial perspective

·  Strong communication skills; able to translate financial complexity into clear, confident recommendations for creative, comms, and brand audiences who are not finance-native

·  High intellectual curiosity and ownership mindset; you build and improve processes, not just report against them

·  Comfortable working with ambiguity, including evolving budget definitions and classification frameworks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

·  BA required; MBA preferred

·  5+ years of relevant finance experience with increasing levels of responsibility, including at least 2 years in a marketing or media finance role
