Creative Installer/ Visual Holiday Decorator

Summary

American Christmas is seeking creative, detail-oriented installers to help bring custom holiday experiences to life. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, visual presentation, and craftsmanship, and can translate creative concepts into impactful holiday displays.

Installers work on complex large-scale installations throughout New York City and the Tri-State Area while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and visual excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Adhere to all company safety standards as a condition of employment.

- Install holiday displays and dcor (trees, wreaths, garlands, ornaments, lighting, etc) at client locations throughout New York City and the Tri-State Area.

- Execute displays in a manner that maintains creative intent and visual impact.

- Make on-site aesthetic adjustments to enhance the overall presentation of displays.

- Assist with custom installations and specialty dcor projects.

- Work on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding for both interior and exterior installations.

- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

- Perform basic rigging and electrical work.

- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure displays meet company quality standards.

- Remove displays at the end of the holiday season.

- Opportunity for additional paid driving duties. A valid driver's license is required for driving assignments.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities

Creative & Visual Skills

- Strong aesthetic sense and eye for detail when working with holiday décor, lighting, greenery, ornaments, and custom display elements.

- Ability to visualize the finished display and make creative adjustments in the field.

- Experience with holiday décor, visual merchandising, event décor, floral design, interior design, set design, or similar creative fields is a plus.

- Pride in craftsmanship and creating visually impactful customer experiences.

Technical & Physical Skills

- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.

- Must supply own basic tools.

- Experience operating Genie lifts, push-around lifts, and scissor lifts; boom lift experience preferred.

- Comfortable working from ladders and lifts at heights exceeding 40 feet.

- Available for overnight shifts, weekends, and 12+ hour shifts during peak season.

- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

- Basic rigging and electrical knowledge preferred.

Preferred Backgrounds

Candidates with experience in holiday décor, visual merchandising, event production, floral design, set design, theatrical production, interior styling, or other creative industries are encouraged to apply.

Seasonal Schedule

The installation season runs through mid-December. Employees are off from the end of the installation season until December 26. Work resumes on December 27 and continues through approximately January 15 for seasonal display removals.
