We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to serve as the designated Site Safety Manager on construction projects requiring New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) Site Safety oversight. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining site-specific safety programs while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, NYC DOB Chapter 33 requirements, and client safety standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive construction safety experience, a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to lead safety initiatives on large, complex projects. Responsibilities
- Serve as the designated NYC DOB Site Safety Manager for assigned projects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Site Safety Plans and safety procedures.
- Lead and oversee all project safety activities and site safety personnel.
- Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Investigate incidents, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NYC DOB Chapter 33 requirements, and client-specific safety programs.
- Interface with owners, developers, construction managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding project safety matters.
- Review and monitor high-risk activities, including: Fall protection
- Crane and hoisting operations
- Excavation and trenching
- Confined space entry
- Other critical construction activities
- Track and verify corrective actions to ensure timely resolution of safety concerns.
- Maintain safety records, reports, metrics, and compliance documentation.
- Support preconstruction planning efforts and participate in client meetings and safety presentations.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, training, and ongoing engagement with field personnel.
- Support multiple project sites as needed while maintaining consistent safety standards.

Required Qualifications
- Active NYC DOB Site Safety Manager License.
- Experience serving as the designated Site Safety Manager on projects requiring NYC DOB oversight.
- Strong background in construction safety management.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and NYC DOB Chapter 33 regulations.
- Experience developing and managing Site Safety Plans.
- Proven ability to lead project safety programs and safety personnel.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Working knowledge of high-risk construction operations, including cranes, excavations, confined spaces, and fall protection.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working on construction projects valued at $50M+.
- Ability to manage safety responsibilities across multiple project sites.

- CHST, ASP, CSP, or other recognized safety certifications.
- Experience working for a construction safety consulting or specialized safety organization.
- Strong presentation and client-facing communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with owners, developers, contractors, and construction managers.
- Demonstrated success promoting and maintaining a positive safety culture on large-scale construction projects.

Work Environment
This position is based on active construction sites and requires a strong field presence. The Safety Manager will spend the majority of their time conducting site inspections, interacting with project teams, and monitoring day-to-day operations. The role requires regular interaction with construction personnel, clients, and regulatory representatives in a fast-paced environment. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
