[What the role is]
Lecturer (Built Environment Technology) / School of Engineering

[What you will be working on]

- Design and deliver industry-relevant curriculum for full-time and continuing education programmes across architectural technology, building services, sustainability and digital delivery.

- Develop authentic learning experiences through case studies, projects, laboratory activities, simulations and industry-based assessments.

- Mentor and guide students in their learning, internships, projects, competitions and career development.

- Supervise student projects and work-based learning, fostering professional ethics, safety awareness and critical thinking.

- Engage industry, professional and public-sector stakeholders to support curriculum enhancement, applied projects and workplace learning opportunities.

- Contribute to curriculum review and quality improvement by incorporating industry developments, regulatory changes and learner feedback.

- Apply emerging technologies and digital practices such as BIM, Integrated Digital Delivery, AI-enabled workflows and smart-building technologies in teaching and project work.

- Maintain professional currency in Built Environment practices, technologies and sustainability trends, and translate these into teaching and programme development.

- Support school initiatives including outreach, student recruitment, industry engagement, continuing education and multidisciplinary projects.

[What we are looking for]

· A relevant qualification in architecture, architectural technology, building services engineering, sustainability, construction management or a related Built Environment discipline.

· At least three years of relevant industry experience in areas such as consultancy, project delivery, facilities management, sustainability, digital construction or related Built Environment practice.

· Experience in one or more of the following areas:

o   architectural technology and multidisciplinary coordination;

o   building services design and integration;

o   sustainability and building-performance analysis;

o   BIM, VDC, Integrated Digital Delivery or Common Data Environment workflows;

o   digital construction, smart buildings or data-driven solutions.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts effectively to diverse learners.

· Ability to mentor, coach and motivate students in their academic and professional development.

· Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work across disciplines and industry sectors.

· An adaptable and improvement-oriented mindset, with interest in emerging technologies and innovative teaching practices.

· Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative academic environment.

· Professional registration, accreditation or industry certifications will be an advantage.

· Prior experience in training, coaching, workplace mentoring or knowledge-sharing is advantageous. Formal teaching experience is not required.
