About this role

Job Title: Survey Crew Chief Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Survey Crew Leader to manage survey crews and perform a variety of surveying tasks, including boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain survey equipment, collect accurate field data, and ensure the quality and compliance of survey projects. Responsibilities

- Manage and direct survey crews performing boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys.
- Operate, maintain, and utilize survey equipment such as GPS equipment and robotic total stations.
- Collect accurate field data and perform necessary calculations.
- Maintain accurate field notes, records, and survey project documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, project teams, clients, and other staff to support project objectives.
- Direct, mentor, train, and develop crew members to support their professional growth.
- Research deeds, easements, right-of-way documents, record maps, plans, and other relevant survey records.
- Maintain survey project files, field data records, and indexing systems.
- Assist with office survey functions and mapping compliance activities as needed.
- Ensure all field work is performed safely and in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

- Minimum of 8 years of experience in boundary and construction surveying.
- At least 5 years of experience managing a survey field crew.
- Knowledge of professional surveying practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations affecting land surveying and property boundaries.
- Experience researching deeds, easements, right-of-way documents, record maps, plans, and related survey records.
- Proficiency with GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and Carlson/AutoCAD software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D.
- Possession of a PLS or LSIT license.

The position requires adherence to safety protocols and may involve both field and office work to ensure compliance and accuracy in survey operations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poughkeepsie, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
