YOUR IMPACT:
As a Software Developer, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of enterprise software products at OpenText, a leader in Enterprise Information Management (EIM). OpenText's EIM technologies and business solutions help organizations bring structure to unstructured information, gain better business insight, improve process velocity, reduce information governance risks, and protect sensitive information and intellectual property. They are delivered onsite, via mobile devices, in private cloud, or in the cloud.
You will work with senior engineers, quality engineering, product stakeholders and other team members to deliver reliable product features and fixes. You will take part in the complete software development lifecycle within an Agile development framework and continue to build strong product and technical expertise.
WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS:
- Produce high-quality, maintainable code in accordance with design specifications and coding standards.
- Write and execute unit tests, support integration testing, and contribute to overall product quality.
- Participate in code and design reviews and incorporate feedback to improve implementation quality.
- Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve product defects, with guidance from senior team members when required.
- Contribute to maintenance activities, customer issue analysis and product improvements.
- Participate in the software development process from design through release in an Agile development framework.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, quality engineers and development team members to understand requirements and deliver committed work.
- Provide clear status updates, identify risks or dependencies, and escalate issues in a timely manner.
- Continuously improve your technical skills and product knowledge.
- Share relevant learnings with the team.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of software development experience, preferably in enterprise product development.
- Good hands-on programming experience in C and C++ on Unix/Linux platforms.
- Working knowledge of Windows development technologies such as Win32, MFC and COM/DCOM.
- Good programming, debugging, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms and software design principles.
- Experience developing or maintaining web-based platforms or enterprise applications.
- Working knowledge of Web Services, SOAP, WSDL, XML, XML Schema and XPath.
- Understanding of application architecture, high-level and low-level design concepts, middleware/application servers and databases.
- Ability to read technical and architectural documentation and identify implementation considerations or potential issues.
- Familiarity with source control, build processes, code reviews and continuous integration practices.
- Experience working in Agile development teams and contributing to continual process improvement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functions and geographies.
- Good written and verbal communication, organization and time-management skills.
