## Job Summary:
The LEED Specialist supports the LEED Coordinator in the implementation of project LEED certification requirements from design through construction and certification. Working under the direction of the LEED Coordinator, LEED Manager, or Sustainability Manager, the position maintains credit trackers, gathers and reviews supporting documentation, assists project teams and contractors with routine LEED requirements, and helps prepare complete, accurate submissions.
## Major Responsibilities:
- Maintain LEED credit trackers, action logs, document registers, meeting notes, and status reports using established project tools and procedures.
- Collect supporting information from engineering, procurement, construction, contractors, consultants, and suppliers as required.
- Check submissions for completeness and alignment with defined credit and documentation requirements.
- Organize and upload approved documentation in LEED Online or other designated systems under the direction of the responsible LEED lead.
- Assist with routine reviews of specifications, submittals, product data, calculations, and construction records for assigned LEED credits.
- Coordinate follow-up on missing, incomplete, or inconsistent documentation and elevate unresolved issues or potential credit risks to the LEED Coordinator or Sustainability Manager.
- Prepare draft credit narratives, templates, meeting materials, progress summaries, and responses for review and approval by the responsible lead.
- Provide training materials to support project personnel and contractors who are less familiar with LEED documentation procedures, forms, and evidence requirements.
- Support construction-phase tracking for assigned topics such as waste, indoor air quality, erosion and sediment controls, low-emitting materials, and material sourcing, as applicable to the project credit strategy.
- Maintain orderly, auditable records and follow project document control, quality, and confidentiality requirements.
- Perform other LEED and sustainability support assignments consistent with the role.
## Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field and relevant professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience consistent with company staffing practices.
- Experience supporting building design, construction, sustainability, or green building certification activities is preferred.
- Experience on large, complex, or industrial projects is beneficial.
## Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Working knowledge of LEED rating systems, credit documentation, and certification workflows.
- LEED Green Associate required; LEED AP BD+C credential preferred.
- Ability to read and review design specifications, material submittals and construction documents at a level appropriate to assigned credits.
- Strong document management, organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks and meet established deadlines with guidance.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications; familiarity with LEED Online and project document management systems preferred.
- Ability to identify gaps and risks, ask appropriate questions, and escalate matters requiring technical judgment or project decisions.
