This role centers on patient-facing activities, including identification, recruitment, scheduling, informed consent, research visits, and longitudinal follow-up across multiple investigator-initiated and federally sponsored biobanking studies. The position offers hands-on exposure to multiple protocols, close collaboration with physicians and research staff, and a clear pathway for growth into a Clinical Research Coordinator role. Responsibilities

- Review electronic health records and upcoming pulmonary clinic schedules to identify patients who may meet eligibility criteria for multiple research protocols.
- Pre-screen and triage potential participants for several concurrent studies, ensuring they meet inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Coordinate and run study visits, including obtaining informed consent, administering questionnaires, and supporting procedures such as blood draws and sputum induction in collaboration with clinical staff.
- Schedule research visits and follow-up appointments, ensuring efficient use of clinic time and alignment with study timelines.
- Manage ongoing patient communication, including outreach, reminders, and follow-up to support longitudinal participation and retention.
- Collaborate closely with principal investigators, study physicians, and research staff to support efficient recruitment and study execution.
- Digest and interpret study protocols to ensure that all study activities comply with protocol requirements and regulatory expectations.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining study documentation and records related to patient screening, enrollment, and follow-up for multiple concurrent studies.
- Adapt to fluctuations in patient volume and study workload, adjusting priorities to meet changing operational and investigator needs.
- Contribute to a collaborative research environment focused on biomarker discovery, biologic treatment effects, and the development of screening tests to distinguish asthma subtypes.

Essential Skills

- Experience with chart review and screening of electronic health records (EHR) for research eligibility.
- Hands-on experience in clinical research or clinical trial support, particularly in patient-facing roles.
- Demonstrated ability in patient recruitment, including pre-screening and triaging eligible participants for multiple studies.
- Ability to coordinate and support study visits, including informed consent, administration of questionnaires, and assistance with procedures such as blood draws and sputum induction.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple studies and shifting priorities simultaneously.
- Flexibility to adapt to variable patient volumes, evolving study timelines, and differing investigator preferences.
- Self-directed work style with the ability to act as a self-starter and work independently while maintaining accountability.
- Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to address logistical and operational challenges in a research setting.
- Capacity to quickly digest and understand complex research protocols and apply them accurately to daily workflows.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, physicians, principal investigators, and research staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Interest in pulmonary research, particularly in asthma biomarkers, biologic treatments, and airway disease.
- Experience or familiarity with investigator-initiated studies and federally sponsored biobanking repositories.
- Motivation to develop a long-term career in clinical research, with interest in progressing from an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator role to a Clinical Research Coordinator position.
- Comfort working within a collaborative academic research environment with multiple ongoing studies.
- Attention to detail and reliability in managing patient interactions, scheduling, and protocol adherence.

Work Environment The role is based primarily onsite within an academic pulmonary research setting, working closely with a collaborative team of physicians, principal investigators, and research staff. The position supports multiple investigator-initiated and federally sponsored biobanking studies rather than traditional industry-sponsored clinical trials, offering broad exposure to biomarker and airway-disease research. Work hours may vary based on study visit schedules and patient volume, with some weeks busier than others. Limited remote flexibility may be available depending on study visit requirements, operational needs, individual performance, and leadership approval. The environment emphasizes professional attire appropriate for clinical and research interactions, as well as adherence to institutional policies and procedures while working with patients and clinical data.
