The Associate Geoscientist 2 leads routine field investigations and assigned technical work, including monitoring-well installation, soil and groundwater sampling, subsurface characterization, data evaluation, laboratory coordination, and preparation of technical deliverables. The role applies established methods, regulations, and project requirements with limited senior-staff guidance; plans and completes assigned tasks within scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements; provides basic direction to junior staff and oversight of subcontractors; and coordinates with project leadership, laboratories, clients, and internal stakeholders. Targeted guidance and mentorship support increasing technical judgment, independence, and accountability on complex or unfamiliar assignments.

Expected Outcome s :
- Plan, perform, and lead routine field activities, including field documentation, lithologic logging, soil and groundwater sampling, groundwater monitoring, and monitoring-well installation; select appropriate sampling locations, equipment, and techniques with limited senior-staff guidance.
- Organize and evaluate project data, perform quality reviews, coordinate laboratory analyses in accordance with project requirements and data quality objectives, resolve routine issues, and elevate significant uncertainties.
- Prepare and lead assigned portions of technical reports, tables, figures, illustrations, geologic maps, and cross sections; correlate technical information and incorporate senior technical review comments.
- Develop assigned technical deliverables by applying relevant standards, regulations, literature-review findings, industry practices, and project requirements, with appropriate technical references and senior review.
- Ensure assigned work complies with approved project specifications, standard operating procedures, scope requirements, and quality standards, and maintain accurate, auditable, and organized project records.
- Plan and complete assigned tasks within scope, schedule, and budget requirements; manage priorities, track progress and potential variances, and promptly communicate risks, delays, and deviations to project leadership.
- Provide basic oversight of subcontractor activities within assigned tasks; monitor performance, quality, safety, schedule, and compliance; address routine concerns; and elevate significant deviations.
- Support field implementation of project safety requirements, perform low-risk EHS activities with minimal oversight, provide basic site orientations and safety-document reviews, exercise Stop Work Authority, and address identified hazards with project and EHS leadership.
- Provide task-level directions to junior staff when assigned, share routine technical knowledge, and support consistent application of methods, quality expectations, and lessons learned.
- Maintain and apply current knowledge within assigned areas of practice and use feedback and lessons learned to improve technical work.
- Coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders on assigned tasks, anticipate routine project needs and objectives, communicate status through project leadership, respond to routine inquiries, and elevate complex or sensitive matters.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or a related field and 2–4 years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated technical competence in geoscience field investigations, including soil borings, monitoring-well installation, lithologic logging, soil and groundwater sampling, and field documentation.
- Ability to plan, perform, and lead routine field activities with limited senior-staff guidance, select appropriate locations, equipment, and techniques, and provide task-level directions to junior staff when assigned.
- Ability to support field implementation of project safety requirements, perform low-risk EHS activities with minimal oversight, provide basic site orientations and safety-document reviews, exercise Stop Work Authority, and address identified hazards with project and EHS leadership.
- Ability to prepare and lead assigned portions of technical deliverables, correlate technical information, incorporate senior review comments, and maintain accurate, auditable, and organized project records.
- Ability to organize and evaluate environmental data, perform quality reviews, coordinate laboratory analyses, resolve routine data-quality issues, and elevate significant uncertainties.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulations, industry practices, technical standards, project requirements, standard operating procedures, and quality and EHS requirements, with the ability to apply them to routine assignments with limited guidance.
- Ability to plan and complete assigned tasks within scope, schedule, and budget requirements; manage multiple priorities; track progress and potential variances; and communicate risks, issues, and deviations to project leadership.
- Ability to provide basic oversight of subcontractor activities, address routine performance and compliance concerns, and elevate significant quality, safety, schedule, or scope deviations.
- Ability to apply sound technical judgment, work with increasing independence, resolve routine issues within established requirements, and seek targeted guidance for complex or unfamiliar assignments.
- Ability to coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders, anticipate routine project needs and objectives, communicate project status, respond to routine inquiries, and elevate complex or sensitive matters.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including communicating detailed technical information and collaborating with project teams, junior staff, subcontractors, laboratories, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency with electronic data-collection, GPS, GIS, data-management, and Microsoft Office® applications.
- Ability to work outdoors at active construction, remediation, or similar project sites; walk long distances over varied terrain; climb ladders; work at elevations; and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
