Lockheed Martin is designing, developing, and delivering a next-gen wideband MILSATCOM system comprised of integrated space and ground segments that will provide enhanced communications capacity, flexibility and resiliency.

The selected candidate will support the program in the capacity of the Ground Integrated Product Team (IPT) Systems Engineer contributing to the successful integration, test and delivery of the Ground segment. Prior experience as a Systems or Software engineer with extensive domain knowledge of ground systems, networks, and integration & test of enterprise software products is required.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.

Basic Qualifications

Systems Engineering experience with at least one of: Requirements, CONOPS, ICD, or Architecture

Detailed knowledge and understanding of systems engineering process

Prior experience with satellite ground systems design, development, integration, and test

Experience with Space payload and vehicle management for comms missions

Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE)

Experience with Horizon & Compass enterprise Ground Product Line (GPL) products

Experience working in an Agile I&T environment, including tools such as Jira and Confluence

Able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required

Desired Skills

Experience supporting Systems Engineering technical performance objectives and deliverables (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR)

Experience working with different engineering disciplines to derive, decompose and verify requirements

Strong knowledge of modern technology frameworks, IP networking, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, DevSecOps, and data architecture

Experienced in software development using programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, etc.

Experience in application containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)

Proficiency with SysML and Cameo

Experience with MOSA

Experience working in a fast-paced environment with
technical teams across virtual environments

Excellent verbal & written communication skills

Support occasional business travel (up to 25%)

Active Secret or higher clearance

GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.

* Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): :$104900.00 - $194700.00
