Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA’s core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June.

Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

The Battery Engineering Intern supports a cross-functional battery engineering team by contributing to cell/pack lab testing, data organization and analysis, and competitor market intelligence. The role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to electrochemical testing workflows while building practical skills in engineering analysis, structured documentation, and technical communication.

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $29 per hour.

What You Drive at DTNA

- Provide creative, technically feasible designs that satisfy customer needs while adhering to engineering standards and strategic direction
- Analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations of technical results to the management team.
- Support method/instruction development and continuous improvement activities that strengthen repeatable lab workflows and data quality
- Improve efficiencies in our procedures through continuous improvement activities incorporating AI
- Plan, organize, and execute test activities related to battery cells and/or packs
- Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs

Knowledge You Should Bring

- Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
- Currently pursuing a BS/MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Working knowledge (coursework or project experience) in one or more of: electrochemistry, batteries, materials, test/measurement, statistics/data analysis
- Ability to organize work, manage multiple tasks, and communicate clearly in written and verbal formats
- Familiarity with battery test equipment and/or lab environments (e.g., cyclers, environmental chambers, impedance, basic instrumentation)
- Experience analyzing engineering datasets (e.g., Excel, Python, MATLAB) and creating clear plots and summaries
- Interest or experience in technical research, technology scouting, or competitor benchmarking
- Customer orientated with the drive to develop customer-focused solutions
- Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change. Passion for driving positive outcomes for our customers is required
- Must be well-organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management
