Position Summary
The Requirements Process Lead is responsible for defining, governing, improving, and driving adoption of enterprise requirements management processes across product development teams. This role ensures customer, system, hardware, software, and regulatory requirements are effectively captured, reviewed, traced, validated, and managed throughout the product lifecycle.
The ideal candidate combines expertise in requirements engineering, process management, systems thinking, stakeholder engagement, and requirements management tools such as Polarion, Jira, Jama, DOORS, or equivalent platforms. The individual will partner with Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Compliance, and Program Management teams to establish scalable processes that improve product quality, traceability, and delivery predictability.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements Management Governance
- Define and maintain enterprise requirements management processes, standards, templates, and best practices.
- Establish governance models for capturing, reviewing, approving, baselining, and managing requirements.
- Drive consistency across business units, programs, and product lines.
- Ensure compliance with internal development processes and applicable regulatory standards.
Process Improvement
- Analyze existing requirements workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and traceability.
- Lead process transformation initiatives and change management efforts.
- Develop metrics and KPIs to measure process adoption and effectiveness.
- Facilitate continuous improvement programs based on lessons learned and audit findings.
Requirements Quality and Traceability
- Ensure requirements are clear, measurable, testable, and aligned with customer and business needs.
- Establish end-to-end traceability from customer requirements through product requirements, implementation, testing
- Support requirements reviews and quality assessments across project teams.
- Drive best practices for requirements decomposition, verification, and change management.
Tool Strategy and Administration
- Serve as the business process owner for requirements management platforms.
- Collaborate with tool administrators to define workflows, templates, integrations, and reporting.
- Support integrations between requirements repositories, JIRA, and test management systems.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Compliance, and leadership teams.
- Facilitate workshops and reviews to align stakeholders on requirements management expectations.
- Provide guidance and coaching to teams on requirements processes and best practices.
- Support audits, assessments, and executive reporting activities.
Training and Enablement
- Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and user guides.
- Create onboarding materials and process documentation.
- Promote organizational awareness and adoption of requirements management methodologies.
Must Have
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in requirements engineering, systems engineering, product development, process management, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading requirements management processes, governance programs, or enterprise process initiatives.
- Proven experience driving cross-functional process improvements within complex product development organizations.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of requirements lifecycle management, traceability, and configuration management.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Polarion, Jama, IBM DOORS, Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent platforms.
- Understanding of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid development methodologies.
- Experience establishing metrics, dashboards, and process governance frameworks.
Leadership Skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional working groups and process councils.
- Ability to drive organizational change and adoption.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Equivalent experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent certification.
- Experience in regulated industries such as security, IoT, aerospace, automotive, industrial, medical, or consumer electronics.
- Experience implementing enterprise-wide requirements management transformations.
- Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
