About this role

The City and County of Swansea’s Foster Swansea department is seeking a dedicated Supervising Social Worker (SS.1938‑V2) to lead the assessment, planning and delivery of support services for foster carers, looked‑after children and the carers’ own children. The role involves collaborative case management, safeguarding, and promoting positive outcomes for fostering families and the children they support.

- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Care Wales.
- Minimum 3 years experience in foster care or children’s services.
- Strong knowledge of Welsh legislation and safeguarding frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assess risk and make sound professional judgments.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff.
- Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to work flexibly and manage a varied caseload.
- Welsh language proficiency (preferred but not essential).
