About this role

Mechanical Designer / Drafter

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support the design and manufacturing of custom modular wall systems and architectural products. This role will focus on creating detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) using Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys detailed design work, product development, and collaborating closely with manufacturing teams to bring custom products from concept through production.

Responsibilities

- Create and modify 3D models, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation using Autodesk Inventor.
- Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Manage CAD files, revisions, and engineering documentation using Autodesk Vault.
- Collaborate with engineering, drafting, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are accurate and production-ready.
- Update and revise existing models and drawings based on design changes and customer requirements.
- Create documentation to support fabrication, assembly, and installation activities.
- Maintain revision control and proper file organization within Vault.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting standards and CAD workflows.

Qualifications

- 3+ years of drafting or design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
- Experience using Autodesk Vault or similar PDM/document management systems.
- Experience creating: 3D models
- Shop drawings
- Assembly drawings
- Manufacturing drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and production teams.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and revision control.

Preferred Experience

- Custom product or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments.
- Architectural products, building systems, metal fabrication, millwork, or modular systems.
- Experience supporting products from design through manufacturing.

Work Environment

- Office-based design role with close interaction between engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Hands-on involvement supporting production and fabrication activities.
- Opportunity to work on highly customized products and see designs move from concept to finished product.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
