Senior Bookkeeper

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with strong accounting knowledge, excellent follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This individual will play a critical role in the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance while working closely with management and our external accounting partners.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

- Manage all day-to-day bookkeeping functions.

- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records.

- Process and reconcile all bank accounts and credit card accounts.

- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.

- Record journal entries and maintain month-end workpapers.

- Assist with monthly and year-end close processes in coordination with outside accounting oversight.

- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

- Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

- Process vendor invoices and payments.

- Generate customer invoices and monitor collections.

- Maintain aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.

- Post daily cash receipts and deposits.

Payroll & Commission Administration

- Process payroll accurately and timely for all employees.

- Review payroll reports, deductions, taxes, benefits, and garnishments.

- Coordinate payroll tax filings and compliance with payroll providers.

- Calculate and process monthly commission reports and payouts.

- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll accrual entries.

Month-End Financial Close

- Perform monthly account reconciliations and general ledger analysis.

- Prepare balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation.

- Assist with financial reporting packages for management.

- Work closely with external accountants to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial close.

- Support annual audit and tax preparation requirements.

Reporting & Financial Support

- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for management.

- Assist with cash flow monitoring and budgeting activities.

- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends.

- Support process improvements and accounting system enhancements.

HR & Compliance Support

- Coordinate with HR on payroll-related matters, benefits administration, workers' compensation, unemployment, 401(k), and related programs.

- Maintain confidentiality of employee and financial information.

- Assist with regulatory compliance and documentation requests.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience.

- Experience managing full-cycle Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

- Strong experience processing payroll and commission calculations.

- Experience performing monthly close activities and account reconciliations.

- Knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.

- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.

- Experience working with outside accountants, auditors, or CPA firms.

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

- Experience in a sales or service-based organization.

- Experience with payroll systems and commission-based compensation structures.

- Full-charge bookkeeping experience strongly preferred.
