Pay Range: $25.48 - $33.98

The ACH Settlement Specialist is responsible for the daily settlement, balancing, funding, and exception management activities associated with ACH processing. This position ensures ACH files are processed accurately, settlement entries are funded appropriately, general ledger accounts remain balanced, and operational issues are identified and resolved promptly.
The ACH Settlement Specialist serves as the primary operational resource for ACH funding and settlement activities and works closely with Treasury, Accounting, Operations, and vendor partners to ensure the integrity of ACH processing and settlement.

Education and Experience:

- Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 3+ years of banking or operations experience

Skills and Abilities:

- Understanding of ACH processing and settlement concepts.
- Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification.
- Experience working with ACH processing.
- Experience balancing accounts and performing reconciliation activities.
- Familiarity with correspondent bank and Federal Reserve settlement processes.
- Strong reconciliation and balancing skills
- Understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation methodologies.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and reconciliation tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work within strict processing deadlines.
- Knowledge of ACH settlement processes and funding requirements.
- Ability to investigate and resolve operational exceptions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment.

Tasks Performed:

- 40% - Balance ACH settlement activity to general ledger accounts. Verify accuracy of daily ACH settlement totals. Reconcile ACH settlement differences and resolve balancing exceptions. Process adjustments related to settlement and balancing activities. Research and resolve out-of-balance conditions to ensure accurate financial reporting and settlement integrity.
- 30% - Ensure sufficient funds are available to support ACH Origination activity. Manage file processing exceptions and investigate processing issues. Resolve rejected transactions, suspended files, and processing errors. Administer ACH prefunding requirements for designated Originators. Coordinate issue resolution with internal departments as necessary.
- 15% - Monitor incoming and outgoing ACH files and confirm successful processing. Monitor ACH processing windows and processing schedules. Verify successful file transmissions between internal and external systems. Monitor ACH warehouse activity and ensure timely release of transactions. Monitor Same Day ACH processing windows and related operational requirements.
- 10% - Identify, document, and escalate policy exceptions, Nacha rule violations, operational deficiencies, and emerging ACH risks to management and appropriate governance committees.
- 5% - Other duties as assigned.
