About The Role

The Per Diem Medical Assistant will provide high-quality clinical and administrative support to our Medical Assistant department on an as-needed basis. In this hourly, per diem role, you will work under the direction of licensed providers and clinical staff to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients across a variety of settings. This position is ideal for an experienced Medical Assistant seeking a flexible schedule while maintaining a strong commitment to patient service, clinical accuracy, and teamwork.

What You'll Do

- Support providers with patient care, including rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
- Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies according to infection control and safety protocols
- Perform basic clinical procedures within scope of practice, such as EKGs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and injections as permitted
- Accurately document all patient encounters and clinical data in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Assist with scheduling, check-in, check-out, and other front-desk tasks as needed to ensure smooth clinic flow
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding tests, procedures, and follow-up, reinforcing provider guidance
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and adequately stocked
- Follow all clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to patient safety, privacy, and compliance
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other team members to support coordinated, patient-centered care
- Adapt to varying schedules, locations, and patient volumes consistent with the per diem nature of the role

Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient or similar clinical setting
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred
- Current Medical Assistant certification/registration (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred or required per state regulations
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic computer applications
- Solid understanding of standard clinical procedures, vital sign measurement, infection control, and universal precautions
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and commitment to patient confidentiality
- Ability to work in an hourly, per diem capacity with flexibility to accept shifts based on departmental needs
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment with diverse patient populations
