Job Title: Phlebotomist Tucson Job Description
This phlebotomist position is based in a physician office in Tucson and focuses on drawing blood from patients and performing specimen processing. The role is responsible for the accurate collection, receipt, and preparation of biological specimens for analytical testing, as well as the proper entry of information into the laboratory computer system. You will support both the pre- and post-analytical phases of testing, perform specified analytical procedures, and ensure all work aligns with established codes of conduct and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood and other biological specimens from patients in a physician office setting, including cancer, pediatric, and other patients who may require difficult draws.
- Receive and verify specimens, ensuring accurate labeling, handling, and documentation in the laboratory computer system.
- Prepare specimens for analytical testing, including centrifuging, aliquoting, and organizing samples for distribution to the appropriate analytical areas.
- Support all pre-analytical processes, such as patient identification, specimen collection, and initial processing, following established protocols and safety procedures.
- Support post-analytical processes, including proper storage, documentation, and routing of test results and specimens as required.
- Perform specified analytical testing as assigned, adhering to standard operating procedures and quality control guidelines.
- Work independently as the sole phlebotomist on the shift, managing workflow and prioritizing patient draws and specimen processing.
- Collaborate closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff to coordinate patient draws and ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care during blood draws, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor with all patients.
- Follow all applicable codes of conduct, safety regulations, and infection control practices in the handling of specimens and interaction with patients.
Essential Skills
- At least 12 years of phlebotomy experience, including experience with difficult draws such as cancer and pediatric patients.
- Strong blood draw skills, consistently demonstrating accurate and efficient venipuncture and specimen collection.
- Hands-on experience with specimen processing, including preparing samples for analytical testing and distributing them to the correct analytical areas.
- Ability to enter specimen and patient information accurately into a laboratory or clinical computer system.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as the only phlebotomist on the shift while maintaining high standards of accuracy and patient care.
- Proven team player who works effectively and respectfully with medical assistants, physicians, and other clinical staff.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Commitment to following established codes of conduct, safety procedures, and quality standards in a healthcare environment.

Work Environment
The role is based inside a physician office in Tucson, where you will serve as the dedicated phlebotomist for the clinic. You will draw blood from the physicians patients and work closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering daytime hours in an outpatient setting. The work involves using standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment for blood collection and specimen processing, following clinical and safety protocols. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.36/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
