The Role
As an Analyst, Expense Operations, you will support the oversight of CPP Investments’ centralized global expense processing and payment activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established policies and controls.
You will contribute to cash management activities, general ledger accounting, and monthly financial close processes while collaborating with Finance teams and stakeholders across the organization to support efficient operations and continuous improvement.
The Team
Expense Operations supports centralized global expense processing, payments, cash management, and related accounting activities at CPP Investments, helping ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
Accountabilities
- Support daily global expense processing and payment activities, including reviewing and approving vendor invoices, employee expenses, and expense-related journal entries in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist with global payment and cash management activities, including jurisdiction-specific payment requirements, bank account administration, cash forecasting, and excess cash management.
- Support general ledger accounting and month-end close activities, including accounts payable subledger close, variance analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
- Collaborate with Finance teams to provide analysis, documentation, and inputs for month-end close, tax filings, management reporting, and financial reporting.
- Respond to expense-related inquiries from internal stakeholders and auditors, providing timely and accurate information.
- Promote understanding and consistent application of accounts payable policies, systems, and procedures, including contributing to training materials.
- Partner with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to identify process gaps, resolve operational issues, and implement improvements that support business needs, governance, and effective controls.
What You Bring
- An undergraduate degree or college diploma in a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, with an interest in learning new systems and technologies.
- Experience with India-based accounts payable processes including India withholding tax would be an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information, consider multiple factors, and recommend practical solutions.
