For our people, this means meaningful work with tangible impact, real opportunity, and collaboration with exceptional colleagues who value partnership and performance. Here, you’ll contribute to outcomes that matter alongside team members committed to excellence and shared success.
The Role
As Senior Analyst, Cash, Collateral & Settlements Operations, you will join Investment Operations on a 6-month contract, supporting the end-to-end trade lifecycle for Public Markets products, with a particular focus on Fixed Income and Repo transactions. You will manage settlement activity, independently resolve complex issues and help maintain accurate cash, position and investment records while partnering with Investment Departments, counterparties, custodians and internal teams.
The Team
Investment Operations supports CPP Investments’ investment activities by enabling investment strategies and supporting the Fund’s day-to-day operations. The team works closely with Investment Departments and partners across Finance, Legal and Risk, as well as external service providers, to support transaction processing, settlements, cash and position management, asset servicing and investment recordkeeping across a broad range of Public Markets products and global markets.
Accountabilities
- Support the end-to-end trade lifecycle for Fixed Income products, with a particular focus on Repo transactions, ensuring trades are accurately captured, matched and settled within applicable market and custodian deadlines.
- Manage daily settlement activity, including monitoring trades, cash and positions, investigating exceptions and failed transactions, and proactively resolving issues with counterparties, custodians, Investment Departments and internal partners.
- Independently manage complex settlement issues from identification through resolution, escalating material risks and exceptions in a timely manner.
- Perform start-of-day and end-of-day controls to ensure transactions, cash balances, positions and investment records are complete and accurately represented.
- Develop a strong understanding of the broader range of Public Markets products and global markets supported by the team and provide cross-product coverage as required.
- Support new investment activity, products and markets by assessing operational requirements, settlement considerations and potential risks, while identifying potential funding, settlement and operational risks and taking appropriate action to minimize financial, market and reputational impact.
- Contribute to operational excellence by strengthening controls, improving processes and automating manual activities, and participate in system enhancements, testing, implementation initiatives, knowledge sharing and cross-training.
What You Bring
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in Capital Markets Operations, Middle Office, Trade Support or Settlements, preferably within a large financial institution, asset manager or investment organization.
- Strong knowledge of Fixed Income products and hands-on experience supporting Repo transactions and their settlement lifecycle, including an understanding of trade matching, settlement, cash and position management, failed trade resolution and associated operational risks and controls.
- Ability to independently take ownership of issues and drive them through to resolution with limited supervision, supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound judgement when escalating risks.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage high-value transactions, large volumes and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new products, markets, systems and processes in a dynamic environment, along with advanced Excel skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills, with experience working effectively with Investment Departments, custodians, counterparties and/or external service providers; CFA designation or progress toward a relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
You are motivated to contribute to something larger than yourself, approach complex challenges with rigor, and hold yourself to high standards in a collaborative, performance-driven environment.
