<b>Overview</b><br><p>Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft, from Azure to AI. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of datacenters, managed by a team of subject matter experts supporting services for customers and businesses around the world.</p><p>Within CO+I, the Datacenter Monitoring & Controls Engineering (DMCE) team is responsible for delivering consistent, reliable Industrial Controls Systems and Telemetry solutions across Microsoft’s global datacenter fleet. DMCE enables operators to maintain visibility into critical infrastructure, respond quickly to emerging issues, and reduce the risk of customer-impacting outages.</p><p>We are looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager to help drive global Industrial Controls, Telemetry, and mechanical infrastructure programs across DMCE. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.</p><p>In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.</p><br><br><b>Responsibilities</b><br><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong>:</p><ul><li>Lead complex technical programs across DMCE’s global Industrial Controls Systems, Telemetry, and critical infrastructure portfolio.</li><li>Partner with engineering, operations, field, and business stakeholders to define program objectives, technical requirements, success measures, risks, and execution plans.</li><li>Translate business and technical needs into clear program plans, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and accountable workstreams.</li><li>Drive cross-functional execution across teams responsible for datacenter controls, monitoring, telemetry, mechanical systems, and operational readiness.</li><li>Support programs that improve operator visibility into datacenter infrastructure and enable faster identification, escalation, and resolution of reliability risks.</li><li>Manage program governance, status reporting, dependencies, risks, and decision-making forums for high-impact DMCE initiatives.</li><li>Identify systemic issues and lessons learned across controls, telemetry, commissioning, mechanical cooling, and field operations; partner with stakeholders to convert those learnings into durable standards and improvements.</li><li>Communicate complex technical and business topics clearly to senior leaders, engineering teams, operations partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.</li><li>Build trusted relationships across CO+I to align priorities, remove blockers, and deliver high-quality outcomes on committed timelines.</li><li>Foster a culture of inclusion, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.<br><br></li></ul><p> </p><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><p><strong>Qualifications</strong>:</p><p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, operations, datacenter infrastructure, industrial controls, telemetry, strategy.<ul><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li></ul><div><ul><li>3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.</li></ul></div><p><strong>Other Requirements:</strong></p><p>Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: </p><ul><li style="list-style-type: none;"><ul><li>Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.</li></ul></li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis,operations, datacenter infrastructure, strategy<ul><li> OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li><li>8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.</li><li>Expertise in mechanical cooling designs and components, including Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), heat exchangers, and related datacenter mechanical systems.</li><li>Experience with industrial controls, building automation systems, electrical power monitoring systems, telemetry platforms, commissioning, or critical environment operations.</li><li>Experience driving global programs across large-scale infrastructure, cloud, datacenter, or mission-critical environments.</li><li>Ability to simplify complex technical and business topics for executive audiences and cross-functional teams.</li><li>Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, prioritize competing demands, and drive clarity across complex programs.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders, engineering teams, individual contributors, and support teams while maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment.</li></ul><p>#COICareers | #EPCCareers | #DCDCareers</p> <br><br><p>Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year. </p><p></p> <p>Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
