The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination and delivery of a design-and-build hyperscale data center project, ensuring successful execution in accordance with contractual requirements, approved budget, project schedule, quality standards and safety objectives.
The role leads multidisciplinary teams across design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning, ensuring seamless integration of architectural, structural, civil and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. The Project Manager serves as the primary interface with the client and key stakeholders, driving project performance, managing risks and changes, and ensuring the facility is delivered safely and ready for operational handover.

- Project Delivery: Lead end-to-end project execution from design development through construction, integrated testing, commissioning and handover.
- Design Management: Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, design consultants and specialist vendors to ensure design compliance, constructability, coordination and timely approvals.
- Construction Management: Oversee site execution, subcontractor performance, construction sequencing, resource planning and progress monitoring to achieve project milestones.
- MEP and Systems Integration: Ensure effective coordination of critical power systems, cooling infrastructure, backup power, controls, fire protection and other mission-critical systems.
- Schedule and Project Controls: Establish and monitor the integrated project schedule, key milestones, progress reporting, critical path and recovery plans.
- Commercial and Cost Management: Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, variations, change orders and commercial risks in collaboration with Commercial and Project Controls teams.
- Procurement and Subcontract Management: Coordinate procurement strategies, long-lead equipment, subcontract awards, material deliveries and vendor performance to protect the project schedule.
- Quality, Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable statutory requirements, project specifications, quality management systems, environmental standards and health and safety requirements.
- Testing, Commissioning and Handover: Drive system completion, pre-functional and functional testing, integrated systems testing, defect resolution, documentation and operational handover.
- Client and Stakeholder Management: Maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, authorities, utility providers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Risk and Change Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, manage design and scope changes, and resolve technical, commercial and programme issues proactively.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate and develop the project team, promoting accountability, collaboration, performance excellence and continuous improvement.
## Show your expertise
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in Project Management or a recognised project management certification, such as PMP, will be an advantage.
Professional Experience
- Typically 12–15 years of experience in project management, construction management or engineering delivery within major construction or engineering projects.
- Proven experience managing large-scale design-and-build, EPC or EPCM projects from design through construction and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience in mission-critical facilities, hyperscale data centers, data center campuses, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical facilities or similarly complex industrial projects.
- Strong track record in managing multidisciplinary teams, design coordination, construction execution, project controls and commercial performance.
- Experience coordinating complex MEP installations, critical power infrastructure, cooling systems and integrated testing and commissioning.
- Proven capability in client management, subcontractor coordination, risk management and contractual change control.
- Experience delivering projects in Malaysia or the wider Southeast Asian region will be an advantage.
