Job Purpose
The role is responsible for leading the Quality Control team, maintaining quality systems, conducting audits and inspections, investigating non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement to ensure that products consistently meet company, customer, and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Quality Control team.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
- Monitor product quality, inspections, testing, and quality records.
- Conduct audits, verifications, and quality assurance activities.
- Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee cleaning, sanitation, and environmental monitoring programs.
- Manage quality control equipment, stock, and product shelf-life controls.
- Provide training, coaching, and competency assessments for Quality Controllers.
- Support employee relations, attendance management, and team performance.
- Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the plant.
- Ensure compliance with company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Food Defense requirements.
- Perform additional quality-related duties as required by management
Experience and Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Diploma or BTech in Food Technologist
- At least 6 years’ experience in a Food or Beverage manufacturing industry
- At least 4 years’ supervisory experience
- Food Technology qualification
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of food safety systems, including ISO standards, PRPs, and food safety protocols
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- HACCP
- FSSC 22000 and related Technical standards
- Microsoft Office suite
- Shopware system
