Lab Assistant

Hands-on Lab Experience | Opportunity for Growth Job Description As a Lab Assistant, you will play a crucial role in processing raw biological materials, primarily cow and pig blood, by separating red and white blood cells. These materials are essential for manufacturing products used in calibrators for hematology instruments. The role involves maintaining and cleaning production equipment and containers after processing runs. You will spend most of your time utilizing centrifuges in a raw materials lab, working under FDA regulations to ensure proper documentation, including lot numbers. The job requires being on your feet across the lab and dishwashing space. Responsibilities

- Operate centrifuges and clean dishware.
- Wrap cleaned equipment for further sterilization.
- Batch and label products.
- Document results and processes, referring to past batch records.
- Understand and follow lab protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs), including regulatory awareness of chemical handling and hazards.
- Follow daily work instructions and priorities set by the supervisor, with a commitment to safety.
- Participate in continuous process improvement efforts and identify areas for improvement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in science (preferred).
- Comfortable following SOPs.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working with pig and cow blood.
- Math skills required for dilutions.

Work Environment This role involves working in a clean, well-lit lab located in the basement. Lab assistants are required to wear a lab coat, goggles, and a hairnet. You will be on your feet throughout the day and are allowed to wear headphones if desired. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Remote work is not possible.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
