Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Technician Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports a team of Manufacturing Engineers by coordinating equipment service, creating clear work instructions, maintaining accurate documentation such as bills of materials, and partnering closely with production operators to troubleshoot equipment and process issues on the manufacturing floor.
Responsibilities
- Support a team of Manufacturing Engineers with day-to-day administrative and technical tasks related to manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Communicate service calls and repair needs to vendors, ensuring timely coordination and follow-up for tooling and equipment maintenance.
- Write, update, and maintain detailed work instructions and technical documentation for manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
- Collaborate with operators on the manufacturing floor to clarify work instructions, gather feedback, and address process-related questions.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues using mechanical knowledge and schematic reading to help identify root causes and support effective resolutions.
- Perform hands-on work on the production floor to support manufacturing engineering activities and process improvements.
- Update and maintain SAP bills of materials (BOM) and routing information to reflect current manufacturing processes and product configurations.
- Prepare technical requisitions and related documentation needed for tooling, equipment, and engineering changes.
- Coordinate with vendors for tooling repair, equipment service, and other external support, ensuring clear communication and accurate documentation.
- Assist with DMI (document or design modification) updates and other engineering change processes to keep manufacturing documentation current.
- Apply solid modeling and design tools such as SolidWorks, as needed, to support engineering and manufacturing documentation.
- Ensure manufacturing processes, instructions, and documentation align with engineering requirements and support efficient, safe production.
Essential Skills
- Experience in technical writing, including creating and updating clear and detailed work instructions for manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience working on a manufacturing floor, comfortable interacting with operators and equipment in a production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical or mechanical schematics to support troubleshooting and process understanding.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and equipment-related issues within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with SAP, including updating bills of materials (BOM) and routing information.
- Proficiency in vendor communication, including initiating and managing service calls for equipment and tooling repairs.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and manufacturing engineering principles.
- Ability to coordinate technical requisitions and maintain accurate engineering-related documentation.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools to support engineering and documentation tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus, particularly for translating and explaining work instructions to Spanish-speaking operators.
- Experience with DMI updates or similar engineering change and documentation control processes.
- Background in mechanical troubleshooting and understanding of mechanical systems used in manufacturing.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise between engineers, operators, and external vendors.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage documentation, BOMs, and routing changes accurately.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment that combines office-based engineering support with regular presence on the production floor. The Manufacturing Engineering Technician works closely with Manufacturing Engineers, equipment vendors, and production operators, using tools such as SAP and SolidWorks, as well as standard mechanical and diagnostic equipment. The position involves hands-on work around production machinery, troubleshooting equipment, and updating documentation in real time to support ongoing operations. Work typically takes place in a structured facility with established safety procedures and production processes, requiring appropriate industrial attire and adherence to safety guidelines while on the manufacturing floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of McMinnville, OR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
