Job Title: QA Receiving Technician Job Description
The QA Receiving Technician is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, documenting, and validating incoming materials and production quality activities within a food manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key quality resource by ensuring raw materials, packaging, and finished products meet company specifications and food safety requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working both independently and cross-functionally with production, inventory, receiving, and quality teams.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming raw materials, spices, ingredients, and packaging materials.
- Compare incoming materials to approved specifications and requirements.
- Review and maintain Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Request missing specifications and documentation as needed.
- Receive and document damaged goods and non-conforming materials.
- Complete quality reports including condemnation, foreign material, and mislabeling documentation.
- Collect and maintain supporting documentation and photographs when required.
- Maintain accurate records and quality documentation.
- Initiate quality holds and quarantine activities when necessary.
- Perform post-production quality checks including package seal integrity, Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) verification, and drain weight evaluations.
- Conduct routine chemical testing and analysis in the laboratory.
- Verify product quality throughout production processes.
- Conduct internal quality audits including warehouse inspections, pest control audits, and facility and grounds inspections.
- Support food safety and quality initiatives.
- Assist with HACCP-related documentation and compliance activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Minimum 1 year of quality, manufacturing, production, laboratory, or related experience

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to accurately record and communicate quality information
- Food manufacturing experience
- Pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing experience
- HACCP exposure

- Bilingual English/Spanish
Work Environment
This position operates within a food manufacturing facility and laboratory environment. Employees frequently move between production, receiving, warehouse, and quality areas while monitoring product quality and food safety. Working conditions include exposure to wet and manufacturing environments, moving equipment and machinery, occasional exposure to hot, cold, and outdoor conditions, and frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending. The schedule is Monday - Friday on a swing shift from 4:00 PM to 1:30 AM, with overtime potentially required based on operational needs. The team structure includes approximately 20 employees supported per shift.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42640.00 - $42640.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
