Senior Accountant
Chaska, MN Job Description The Senior Accountant prepares, analyzes, and reviews financial statements for multiple facilities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and lender requirements. This role serves as a key financial partner to operations and leadership, providing insight into financial performance, risks, and opportunities. The Senior Accountant also leads critical processes such as month-end close, budgeting, lender reporting, and special projects while mentoring staff accountants and supporting a growing portfolio in the Senior living, healthcare, residential, and commercial property sectors. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements for assigned facilities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and lender requirements.
- Analyze financial results and communicate key risks, trends, and opportunities to leadership in a clear and actionable manner.
- Oversee month-end close activities for assigned facilities, ensuring all entries, reconciliations, and adjustments are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Mentor, support, and review the work of staff accountants, providing guidance, feedback, and training to strengthen the teams capabilities.
- Review accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bad debt reserves to ensure accuracy and identify areas of concern or improvement.
- Prepare semi-annual audited financial packages, including supporting schedules, footnotes, and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor lender reporting requirements and maintain ongoing debt covenant compliance, ensuring all reporting deadlines and standards are met.
- Serve as the primary financial contact for assigned facilities, providing guidance on reimbursement rates, revenue structures, staffing, and operational trends.
- Partner with operations and leadership teams to monitor financial performance, occupancy and census trends, billing, collections, and expense management.
- Lead the annual budgeting process for assigned facilities, collaborating with operational leaders to develop accurate forecasts and projections.
Essential Skills
- Four-year accounting degree or equivalent work experience in a healthcare financial field.
- 7+ years of related financial accounting experience.
- Strong full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency with full general ledger and accounting software.
- Demonstrated strength in reconciliation and consolidation across multiple entities or facilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with a management company or in public accounting is desirable.
- YARDI software experience is a plus.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chaska, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $52.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
