Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist Location: Goleta, CA Department: Laboratory / Clinical Operations Position Summary Join a patient-focused healthcare team as a Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist, where you will play a key role in supporting quality patient care through specimen collection, laboratory processing, and clinical support activities. This position combines direct patient interaction with laboratory operations, including venipuncture, specimen preparation, electronic medical record documentation, and coordination of laboratory workflows. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, bilingual in Spanish, and experienced in providing excellent customer service while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced clinical environment. Working onsite in a medical clinic, you will collaborate closely with providers and staff to ensure efficient patient flow and timely laboratory testing. Required Qualifications & Skills Minimum of 1 year of laboratory or phlebotomy experience. Valid California Phlebotomy License. Bilingual in Spanish and English. Experience performing venipuncture, blood draws, and specimen collection. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems. Strong customer service and patient communication skills. Ability to accurately process laboratory orders and maintain patient records. Knowledge of specimen handling, preparation, and processing procedures. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of phlebotomy experience. Phlebotomy certification. Experience working in an outpatient clinic or physician practice. Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and in-house testing. Coursework or background in biology, chemistry, or related healthcare sciences. Experience managing laboratory inventory and supply ordering. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture, blood draws, and specimen collection following established clinical and laboratory protocols. Process, label, prepare, and package specimens for testing and shipment to reference laboratories. Review and process laboratory orders received through the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Document patient information and laboratory results accurately within the EHR. Support patient flow by assisting with patient check-in, rooming, and check-out activities when needed. Perform in-house testing and record results according to clinic procedures. Maintain laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and safety standards. Monitor laboratory inventory, restock supplies, and assist with ordering materials as needed. Review laboratory invoices and support administrative laboratory functions. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
