Director Strategic Insights

YOUR ROLE

As Director of the Strategic Insights team, you are responsible for providing subject matter expertise and leadership. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Strategic Insights, you will play a critical role in enhancing our organization by using data and analytics to drive business strategy, increase the use of data in decision making, enhance the customer experience and provide data insights that inform future profitability across the Genworth companies. This role requires working closely with key cross functional stakeholders, developing strategy and tactical approaches while producing deliverables in the form of Insights, strategy, reports, or raw datasets that will be used to drive business decisions. You will have the opportunity to support many Genworth functions and businesses including: our Closed block, Carescout business, care & wellness initiatives, actuarial and customer facing organizations.

The Director develops strategy, demonstrates thought leadership, manages complex projects, builds relationships, recruits and mentors staff, and collaborates with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses advanced analytical skills along with multiple years of experience leading individuals and developing a cohesive, high functioning analytics team.

What you will be doing

- Become a trusted analytical leader and partner to the functional areas of support and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
- Communicate project performance results to company leadership.
- Partner with leadership to execute on a robust strategy that integrates data and Insights into all aspects of the organizational strategy.
- Collaborate with business partners to understand their problems and goals, gather business requirements, and develop analytical solutions to support their vision and strategy.
- Develop and lead a team of analysts with the skills, capabilities, and passions necessary to successfully drive and sustain a data focused culture. This could include managing analysts with varying skillsets including but not limited to: Data Engineering, Data Analysis, and Data Science
- Defines, develops, and provides insights, metrics, and analysis to drive the decision-making process and support business strategy for internal and external customers
- Solves Complex problems utilizing creative solutions and new perspectives.
- Influences all levels of an organization to support projects and/or ideas.
- Focuses on improving process and enabling technology to provide repeatable reporting solutions.
- Lead and implement business intelligence strategy to ensure analytics are accurate, timely and aligned throughout the organization.
- Set policies, standards, and best practices for data insights team

What you bring

- Bachelor's degree in an analytical or technical discipline
- At least 10 years of analytics/data experience in a dynamic environment. Expertise obtained through progressive analytical and operational work experience
- At least 5 years of direct leadership experience with proven ability to develop your team and execute on strategy.
- Outstanding presentation and written communication skills. Able to develop and deliver clear, crisp, and compelling “data stories” including presentations to all levels of the organization.
- Your ability to influence decision makers and drive consensus.
- Your ability to teach and mentor other employees and provide opportunity for development and growth
- Your Ability to influence and work collaboratively in a team. Build relationship & networking skills with internal organization and customers
- Expertise in Excel, hands on intermediate to advanced SQL/SAS or other programming language ability
- Experience with database Rational Database Management System (RDBMS) technologies (i.e. SQL server, Greenplum, Oracle and etc).

Nice to have

- Advanced degree in Analytics and/or Data science
- Life/LTC Insurance product and claims process knowledge
- Experience with advanced analytical and modeling data capabilities utilizing Python and/or R.
- Experience with big data technologies (i.e. Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Databricks, AWS/Azure and etc).
- Expertise in Data Visualization is an advantage

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- This role is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

National Range: 134,600 - 209,000

Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
