Job Title: Construction Manager Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Job Description This Construction Manager role focuses on construction administration, inspection, and leadership for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems on water and wastewater facilities and other complex industrial projects. You will oversee projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards while coordinating closely with engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders. The position combines hands-on field presence with detailed document review, project coordination, and mentorship of inspection staff. Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive construction administration for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems on water and wastewater projects from pre-construction conferences through final closeout.
- Review shop drawings, equipment and control panel submittals, and O&M manuals to verify compliance with contract plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Review and respond to contractor RFIs, collaborating with the engineering team to resolve field and design-related issues promptly.
- Evaluate contractor change orders and supporting documentation and assess pay applications against actual work in place.
- Review as-built information and assist in preparing accurate and complete record drawings.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready project records, including schedules, decisions, correspondence, and construction documentation.
- Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, approved submittals, the NEC (NFPA 70), and other applicable codes and standards.
- Perform site observations and inspections of power distribution, motor controls, instrumentation, control systems, lighting, and grounding installations.
- Review electrical drawings, P&IDs, one-line diagrams, motor control schematics, and instrumentation and control drawings in the field to verify proper installation.
- Prepare detailed field reports, punch lists, and other construction documentation to track progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate and observe equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and functional performance testing to ensure systems operate as intended.
- Monitor corrective work and track deficiencies through to resolution and project closeout.
- Coordinate with engineers, municipal agencies, contractors, equipment suppliers, and other project stakeholders to keep projects moving efficiently.
- Serve as the primary electrical point of contact for clients during construction, providing clear communication and proactive issue resolution.
- Manage responsibilities across multiple active construction projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deadlines.
- Guide and mentor field inspection staff, helping refine inspection standards, checklists, and best practices.
- Capture lessons learned from field experience and communicate them to the design team to improve future projects.
- Manage budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, and file management related to electrical construction activities.
- Work safely on active construction sites, including in and around energized equipment, confined spaces, and treatment process areas, while following all safety protocols.

Essential Skills

- 15+ years of experience managing, supervising, inspecting, installing, or commissioning electrical systems and equipment, including at least 8+ years in a supervisory role.
- Extensive experience with construction management for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including administration of submittals, RFIs, change orders, inspections, punch lists, startup, commissioning, and project closeout.
- Thorough working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard electrical construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, one-line diagrams, motor control schematics, and instrumentation and control drawings, and to use plans and specifications to manage, inspect, or build projects.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering standards such as NFPA 110, NFPA 820, IEEE-519, and NFPA 70E.
- Strong experience working with electrical subcontractors and familiarity with NEC code compliance in the field.
- Proven experience managing clients and contractors, including coordination of expectations, deliverables, and issue resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, submittals, and project documentation effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects at the same time.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for drawing review and markup.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel for documentation and communication.
- Experience with project management and construction platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Forma, or similar software.
- Ability to work safely on active construction sites, including climbing ladders and accessing electrical rooms, vaults, and other confined spaces, and working around energized equipment and treatment process areas.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Project experience with water and wastewater facilities, including treatment plants and related infrastructure.
- Relevant project experience in heavy industrial, petroleum, natural gas, utilities, data centers, solar, PVS, and other large-scale construction environments.
- A technical or bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, electrical technology, or a related field; relevant field and construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with an active plan toward obtaining a PE license.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software for reviewing and coordinating design documents.
- ICC Electrical Inspector certification, industry association membership or training certification, or NICET certification.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent advanced safety training.
- Arc flash hazard training or certification and familiarity with arc flash studies and mitigation.
- Experience using SKM or similar software for power system studies.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development through licensing, certifications, and continuing education.

Work Environment This role is field-oriented and requires regular travel to active construction sites throughout the Southwest region, with occasional overnight stays based on project needs. Work takes place in a mix of office and field environments, including electrical rooms, vaults, treatment process areas, and other industrial settings where you may encounter energized equipment and confined spaces. You will use tools and technologies such as Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office applications, Procore, Autodesk Forma, AutoCAD, and specialized electrical and safety software. A valid drivers license is required, and a company vehicle or mileage reimbursement is provided for project-related travel. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
