About this role

The Logistics Specialist supports the inbound transportation team by managing scheduled freight pickups, monitoring dwell, resolving shipment issues, and analyzing data to improve performance. This role works closely with multiple vendors, uses Excel and other PC tools extensively, and contributes directly to the successful movement of up to 1,000 shipments per week in a dynamic, startup style environment. Responsibilities

- Manage inbound transportation activities, including coordinating and monitoring scheduled pickups for 18wheeler freight hauls.
- Participate in daily morning meetings to review the transportation plan, recap the prior days performance, and align on priorities.
- Own a portfolio of vendors (approximately 50) and build strong working relationships to understand their issues and constraints.
- Use Excel and other Microsoft Office tools to track vendor activity, monitor shipments, and maintain accurate records.
- Proactively reach out to vendors to identify, investigate, and resolve shipment issues, including missed or delayed pickups.
- Analyze transportation and vendor performance data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Interpret data and metrics to support decisionmaking, drive operational efficiency, and improve ontime performance.
- Work with multiple systems and browser tabs simultaneously to gather information, troubleshoot problems, and update shipment status.
- Demonstrate a strong customerobsessed mindset by prioritizing service quality and timely delivery.
- Act with a bias for action by addressing issues quickly, escalating when necessary, and following through to resolution.
- Deliver consistent and reliable results by meeting performance expectations and supporting daily, weekly, and monthly goals.

Essential Skills

- At least 3 years of professional work experience, with 45+ years of industry experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel, including working with spreadsheets to track and analyze transportation and vendor data.
- Strong PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data to understand performance, identify issues, and recommend solutions.
- Experience in transportation, logistics, business analytics, or business intelligence.
- Demonstrated problemsolving skills and a logical, analytical approach to resolving shipment and vendor issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, startup style environment that requires flexibility and adaptability.
- Comfort working with multiple screens and systems, including managing an estimated 15 browser tabs at once.
- Strong sense of ownership, with a customerobsessed mindset and a bias for action.
- Consistent reliability and stability in previous roles, with a history of strong attendance.
- Associates degree required.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Combination of degree and relevant industry experience considered.
- Transportation experience, particularly in inbound freight or carrier management, is a strong plus.
- Business intelligence training, business analytics experience, or related certificates are highly desirable.
- Experience in banking, analysis, management, or other office or corporate environments is beneficial.
- History of promotion or progression in previous roles, demonstrating growth and increased responsibility.
- Ability to approach complex operational issues like solving riddles, with curiosity and persistence.
- Track record of staying at least 2+ years in a single role is preferred.

Work Environment This role is 100% onsite in a startup style operations environment, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The team operates in a diverse and collaborative setting where innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement are encouraged. You will work primarily on a PC, frequently using Microsoft Excel, other Microsoft Office tools, and multiple systems and browser tabs simultaneously to manage shipments and vendor communications. The environment is fastpaced and datadriven, with a direct impact on up to 1,000 shipments per week and clear opportunities for growth and potential conversion to a fulltime role.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tempe, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
