About this role
The Small Spacecraft Systems Virtual Institute (S3VI) is developing several collaborations to enhance NASA’s outreach regarding small satellite activities, to promote research of emerging technology opportunities, and facilitate and execute special studies within the small satellite field.
Currently, S3VI is working on the State-of-the-Art Small Spacecraft Technology report, which is an extensive document listing small spacecraft state of the art technologies that exist within the commercial, academic and Other Government Agencies sectors on the market in the small spacecraft field. The report is process being developed into a WEB application which would provide users a digital interactive tool that will allow for increased functionality.
On the horizon – we’re looking to integrate algorithmic functionality in the WEB app, to enable automation of system engineering processes, data analytics capabilities, and other enhanced calculations for design trades.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for interns who are interested in space, small spacecraft technologies and have a strong computer science background. The work required on the application is divided into database creating and handling, frontend and backend development, and APIs.
The work is collaborative with a team of system engineers who define the mission rules and the spacecraft design workflow, and developers who creates the platform, develop the algorithms and handle the system efficiency.
We’re looking for the following skills:
• Python
• Java / Java scrip
• React
• SQL / PostgreSQL
• Rest API
• Efficiency and performance enhancement algorithms for iterative systems
• Advantage but not mandatory: acquaintance with the world of S/C system design
