About LondonEnergy

At LondonEnergy, we’re proud of our vital role in managing North London’s waste and protecting the environment. As part of the team, you’ll already know that we handle and process 750,000 tonnes of waste each year, making us the second largest waste contract in the UK.

Together, we generate enough energy from waste to power around 80,000 homes annually and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres. This is only possible thanks to the dedication of our people, who make a real difference every day.

About the Role:

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Transition Health & Safety Manager to provide dedicated H&S leadership and oversight across the Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) project being delivered through our Transition programme.

Reporting to the Head of HSE, you will work closely with the Transition Department to establish and embed the health and safety policies, processes and practices required for the EcoPark ERF. You will take ownership of key H&S deliverables, support the assurance of operational and maintenance plans, and help ensure a safe and effective transition into business-as-usual operations.

Responsibilities:

- Review, develop and deliver H&S documentation and deliverables in line with project plans and programme requirements.
- Identify and track required H&S documents and products, working collaboratively with the HSE team, ERF Operations and Maintenance teams, and the Transition Department.
- Ensure H&S requirements are embedded throughout project planning, design, mobilisation, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
- Develop and implement appropriate H&S standards, procedures and practical, digitally enabled Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) for new processes, equipment and operational activities.
- Establish effective risk assessment processes to identify and control risks associated with new plant, technologies and operational arrangements before transition into business-as-usual operations.
- Develop a proportionate, risk-based auditing and assurance framework to monitor compliance, evaluate control effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support emergency planning and arrangements, champion a proactive safety culture, and ensure risks are managed effectively and escalated where necessary.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

- A minimum of five years' experience in a Health & Safety role.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or currently working towards the qualification.
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards.
- Experience in construction and commissioning activities is desirable, particularly within industrial, energy-from-waste or similar environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and work collaboratively across departments.
- Effective decision-making skills, with the confidence to work autonomously, take ownership of deliverables and escalate significant risks appropriately.
- Good IT and computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), and the ability to work with or develop digital systems that support business-as-usual operations.

- Employee Recognition Scheme
- Access to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
