About this role
- Prepare and review investigation plans (boreholes, SPT, CPT/CPTu, groundwater monitoring and laboratory tests); establish ground models and identify data gaps.
- Review cut/fill zoning, laterite suitability, moisture/compaction criteria, settlement predictions, embankment stability and borrow/stockpile management.
- Assess weak or compressible soils and recommend preloading, PVD, soil replacement, stabilization, piles or other appropriate methods.
- Check excavation and fill slopes, soil nails, retaining walls, gabions, pond embankments, riverbank protection and drainage effects.
- Review allowable bearing capacity, settlement, shallow foundations, piling and load-test plans for buildings, substations, pump houses and utility facilities.
- Review subgrade CBR, pavement formation, trench stability, pipe bedding, backfill and differential settlement at culverts and underground services.
- Review geotechnical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, tender documents, method statements and value-engineering alternatives.
- Establish geotechnical hold points and ITP acceptance criteria; witness field density/CBR, pile testing and monitoring; investigate nonconformities.
- Specify and interpret settlement markers, inclinometers, piezometers and surveys; maintain risk register and recommend remedial action.
