Controller / Accounting Manager – Temp-to-Hire

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a hands-on Controller / Accounting Manager for a remote temp-to-hire opportunity. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounting Manager ready to step into a Controller role, take ownership of day-to-day accounting, and grow under the mentorship of an experienced CFO.
The organization has approximately $15M in revenue, three entities reporting to a parent company, 65 employees, and approximately 150 customers. The role will focus heavily on accurate accounting, strong financial reporting, and maintaining processes and procedures, as well as the accounting across multiple entities and ledgers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
- Oversee accounting across multiple entities and maintaining separate ledgers
- Maintain organized, accurate financial records with strong attention to detail
- Manage month-end accounting, including monthly revenue allocations between entities
- Support ongoing improvements to accounting processes and procedures
- Supervise offshore accounting support responsible for AP processing and bank transactions
- Partner closely with the CFO on accounting operations and financial reporting
Qualifications
- Mortgage, lending, or FinTech industry knowledge is a plus but not required
- Strong accounting background at the Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller level
- Hands-on experience managing general accounting and financial reporting
- Experience working across multiple entities and general ledgers
- Understanding of accounting and tax considerations associated with different entity structures
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, remote accounting environment

Compensation & Structure
- Consulting Rate: Approximately $60–$75/hour
- Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
- Location: Remote, with Eastern or Central time zones preferred
- Reports To: CFO
