Referral Coordinator
Location: Miami, FL 33126
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 100% onsite, 5 days per week, 8-5pm
A healthcare organization in Miami is seeking an organized, service-focused professional to help patients access specialty care. This position manages referrals from initial request through follow-up, keeping patient information, insurance approvals, and scheduling details accurate and on track.
Key Responsibilities
Process specialty care referrals and maintain accurate documentation.
Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and eligibility.
Obtain required authorizations and coordinate additional clinical approvals.
Work with patients, medical offices, and clinical teams to arrange appointments, testing, and transportation when needed.
Keep patients informed about scheduling requirements and next steps.
Track pending referrals, missing reports, and outstanding requests through completion.
Enter referral and authorization information into electronic patient records.
Protect confidential patient information and follow HIPAA requirements.
Provide administrative support to help the referral process run smoothly.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
MUST have previous experience with medical referral coordination!
Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Clear communication skills and a professional, patient-focused approach.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
Medical Assistant training or certification.
Experience using electronic health record systems.
Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD coding.
MUST be Bilingual English/Spanish.
