The Lighting HOD — Hyderabad leads the local Lighting department and develops its artists and potential Leads or Supervisors. Specialist Lighting leadership defines technical standards, workflows and disciplinary guidance; CG / VFX show supervision provides creative direction. The Hyderabad HOD applies these frameworks, establishes reliable lighting foundations, coordinates cross-show delivery, maintains render efficiency and escalates creative or technically complex exceptions. The initial mandate is focused, but the role must grow the capability of the wider Hyderabad Lighting department.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the Hyderabad Lighting team, develop artists and potential Leads or Supervisors, and shape hiring and capability plans.
- Own cross-show intake, prioritisation, execution, quality, capacity and delivery readiness with Production.
- Apply specialist-defined lighting workflows, quality standards, scene assembly and render / AOV conventions.
- Process and validate HDRIs; calibrate light rigs to reference, LiDAR / proxy geometry, scale, exposure and colour.
- Develop representative sequence setups and reusable templates ahead of shot-volume rollout.
- Validate scene stability, render time, memory, sampling, noise and downstream compositing requirements.
- Collaborate with Pipeline / Rendering and upstream departments to reduce avoidable inefficiency and rework.
- Escalate subjective shot lighting, bespoke look development and complex technical exceptions to specialist / show supervision.

Qualifications

- Significant high-end feature or episodic VFX experience in Lighting, sequence leadership or CG supervision.
- Proven team leadership, mentoring and production delivery responsibility.
- Strong lighting, physically based rendering, colour management, AOV, scene assembly and render optimisation skills.
- Ability to distinguish reference-led lighting foundations from work requiring creative iteration and show-led decisions.
- Experience with Houdini / 3ds Max / V-Ray or equivalent production tools; USD experience valued.
