Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

- Provide fast, friendly, and professional customer service.
- Assist customers with product selections, special orders, and preparation suggestions.
- Respond appropriately to customer questions and concerns.
- Resolve customer concerns when possible and involve store leadership when necessary.
- Promote products through suggestive selling and positive customer interactions.

Meat Department Operations

- Assist with the daily operation of the Meat Department.
- Ensure products are properly prepared, packaged, labeled, priced, and displayed.
- Maintain clean, attractive, fresh, and well-stocked meat displays.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation throughout the day.
- Follow established department opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with daily production planning based on sales and customer demand.
- Ensure proper product rotation and removal of outdated or damaged merchandise.

Inventory & Merchandising

- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while ensuring product quality and freshness.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating department products.
- Maintain organized coolers, freezers, storage areas, and sales displays.
- Assist with controlling inventory, shrink, and department expenses.
- Support physical inventory processes and accurate department records.
- Build and maintain promotional and seasonal displays.
- Ensure proper pricing, signing, labeling, and code dating.

Leadership & Associate Development

- Assist with supervising, training, and assigning duties to Meat Department associates.
- Help schedule associates to maintain appropriate coverage and customer service levels.
- Train associates on department standards, food safety, sanitation, product handling, customer service, and company procedures.
- Communicate department priorities and performance expectations.
- Help identify and develop associates with potential for advancement.
- Support productivity, sales, and overall department performance.

Food Safety & Sanitation

- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe Meat Department.
- Ensure proper temperatures are maintained during product storage, preparation, and display.
- Follow established food-handling, sanitation, labeling, and storage requirements.
- Maintain clean equipment, preparation areas, coolers, freezers, display cases, and work areas.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure associates follow proper sanitation and safe equipment-handling practices.
