Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant. . This position will play a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, a desire to grow professionally, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates with experience in a law firm or professional services environment are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

General Accounting & Month-End Close

- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

- Prepare and post journal entries.

- Perform account reconciliations and analyze balance sheet accounts.

- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of accounting records.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

- Assist with budget-to-actual and variance analysis.

- Support financial reporting and management reporting initiatives.

- Research and explain account fluctuations and variances.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

- Process and reconcile accounts payable transactions.

- Assist with accounts receivable activities, including invoicing and collections support.

- Review and process employee expense reports.

- Perform corporate credit card reconciliations and ensure policy compliance.

Audit & Compliance

- Assist with external and internal audit requests.

- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for auditors.

- Help maintain compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

- 1-4+ years of progressive accounting experience.

- Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
