Job Title: Party Chief Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Party Chief with over 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction surveying and layout. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil construction methods, utility installation, roadway construction, earthwork operations, and grade control. Proficiency in using machine control platforms such as Trimble, Topcon, and Leica is essential. The role requires the ability to read and interpret civil plans and digital models, and proficiency with survey software and data management systems. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are crucial, as well as the ability to work independently in fast-paced field environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct surveying and layout for heavy civil construction projects.
- Manage and coordinate 2–3-person survey teams.
- Work on projects ranging from $300k to $30M.
- Utilize Trimble, Topcon, and Leica machine control platforms.
- Read and interpret civil plans and digital models.
- Manage survey software and data management systems.
- Build and edit surface models.
- Perform drone mapping and photogrammetry.
- Support multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
- Train operators and field crews on machine control systems.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction surveying and layout.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, utility installation, and roadway construction.
- Proficiency with machine control platforms such as Trimble, Topcon, and Leica.
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans and digital models.
- Proficiency with survey software and data management systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience building and editing surface models.
- Drone mapping and photogrammetry experience.
- Knowledge of FDOT and municipal construction tolerances.
- Ability to support multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
- Experience training operators and field crews on machine control systems.
Work Environment
This position is onsite with a typical schedule of 7am to 3:30pm, including occasional Saturday work. Expect to work 50-60 hours a week.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
