Job Description
The Security Officer is responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure environment for guests, team members, and company property. This position supports the Security Department by promoting safety, enforcing company policies and applicable regulations, responding to incidents, and providing professional assistance throughout the casino property.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining the safety and security of guests, team members, and company property.
- Support compliance with gaming regulations, company policies and procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Respond appropriately to safety, security, and emergency situations and provide assistance as needed.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and timely incident reports in accordance with company standards and procedures.
- Provide guidance, direction, and assistance to guests and team members.
- Assist guests and team members with lost and found items in accordance with established procedures.
- Enforce company rules, policies, and procedures in a fair, professional, and consistent manner.
- Conduct investigations, inspections, interviews, and other security-related duties as required throughout the casino environment.
- Perform arrests or detain individuals when legally authorized and in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Protect company assets through regular monitoring, patrols, inspections, and other security measures.
- Maintain open and effective communication with Security Management and other appropriate departments.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful demeanor when interacting with guests, fellow team members, vendors, and outside agencies.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, snowy, or other inclement weather. Duties may include snow removal and other outdoor responsibilities as needed.
- Follow all established safety practices, departmental procedures, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous security, law enforcement, military, or related experience preferred.
- Must be physically capable of responding to and managing security-related situations, including physical confrontations when necessary and permitted, while remaining calm and professional.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, think creatively, and work effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments to resolve issues and address situations that may cross departmental boundaries.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to operate a personal computer and related software, including Microsoft Office Suite, proprietary programs, and other technology or equipment as required.
Additional Requirements
- Must provide a current DMV driving record/printout.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English effectively.
- Must be flexible and available to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and scheduled days off as business needs require.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to interact with intoxicated or impaired guests in a calm, courteous, and professional manner.
- Must be able to respond appropriately to common guest questions, concerns, and complaints.
- Must be able to work in an environment that may include exposure to secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, dust, and other environmental conditions common to a casino setting.
- Must be able to perform required duties both indoors and outdoors and work in varying weather conditions.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times while representing the Security Department and Casino.
