Job Description
The Pantry Cook is responsible for preparing and maintaining the quality, freshness, and presentation of vegetables, salads, and other pantry items served at Governors Grill. This position supports the kitchen team by following established food preparation, safety, sanitation, and quality standards to ensure a consistent and positive dining experience for our guests.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare vegetables, salads, and other pantry items for service in accordance with established recipes and company standards.
- Ensure the quality, freshness, portioning, and presentation of food products meet company standards.
- Work efficiently at assigned kitchen stations while maintaining consistent quality and timely food preparation.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature-control procedures.
- Demonstrate proper and safe knife-handling techniques.
- Apply basic cooking skills and follow established kitchen safety procedures.
- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize cutting boards, worktables, equipment, and other food preparation surfaces.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure compliance with company and Health Department sanitation requirements.
- Properly use and care for kitchen equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Work cooperatively with other kitchen team members to support efficient food preparation and service.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, food safety standards, and departmental guidelines.
- Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful demeanor when interacting with guests, fellow team members, and vendors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous kitchen, food preparation, or restaurant experience preferred.

- Maintain good personal hygiene and a clean, professional appearance in accordance with food safety and company standards.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
- Must be flexible and available to work varying shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as business needs require.
- Must be able to tolerate working in an environment that may include exposure to secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, dust, heat, and other conditions common to a casino and restaurant environment.
- Must be able to stand and work on their feet for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and other kitchen-related activities.
