Boddington is a flagship Newmont gold and copper operation in Western Australia, located about 130 kilometres south-east of Perth and 16 kilometres from the rural town of Boddington.

This large open-pit mine is among Australia’s biggest gold producers and in 2021 it became the world’s first gold mine to implement an Autonomous Haulage System (driverless haul trucks) – a pioneering step for safety and innovation.

Your Impact

As a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Fitter), you'll play a key role in maintaining the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Boddington's crushing and conveying assets. Working within one of Australia's largest gold processing facilities, you'll support plant availability, equipment reliability and production performance while upholding Newmont's strong safety and environmental standards.

As Part of Our Team, You Will

• Perform maintenance activities across primary, secondary and tertiary crushing circuits and conveying systems.
• Maintain and repair crushers, screens, feeders, conveyors, transfer stations and High-Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR).
• Complete preventative maintenance inspections, fault finding and breakdown response activities to maximise equipment reliability.
• Support planned shutdowns and execute belt, pulley, idler, liner, chute and structural component change-outs.
• Work collaboratively with Operations and Maintenance teams while maintaining compliance with site safety, isolation and permit-to-work requirements.

Prerequisites for Success in This Role

• Australian recognised Mechanical Fitter Trade Certificate.
• Previous experience maintaining fixed plant processing equipment within mining, minerals processing or heavy industry environments.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, fault-finding capability and experience working on crushing and conveying equipment.
• Experience using CMMS systems, with SAP exposure highly regarded.
• Current C-Class manual driver's licence, with high-risk licences and Working at Heights or Confined Space competencies considered advantageous.

Your Work Environment

This role operates on an 8 days on / 6 days off, followed by 7 nights on / 7 days off rotating day and night shift roster at Boddington Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Supervisor Mechanical, you will be part of the Dry Plant Maintenance team and work closely with Operations, Planning and Maintenance personnel to support the reliability and performance of critical crushing and conveying assets in a safety-focused and collaborative environment.
