WASTE OPERATOR – CHRISTCHURCH
OPERATE SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT. GET STUCK IN.
We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on Waste Operator to join our Christchurch team.
You’ll work across our waste operations, operating excavators, sludge pumps, vacuum units and other specialist equipment. The role involves receiving, processing and moving waste, as well as keeping the site and equipment clean, safe and organised.
This is a physical role and can involve working around waste, sludge and other unpleasant materials, so you’ll need to be comfortable getting stuck in.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Operating excavators, sludge pumps, vacuum units and other equipment
- Receiving, processing, moving and stockpiling waste
- Loading and handling materials safely
- Completing equipment checks and basic maintenance
- Keeping work areas, equipment and the site clean and organised
- Completing records and following site and environmental requirements
- Working safely as part of a team
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience operating excavators or other heavy plant
- Mechanical aptitude and confidence operating specialist equipment
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to get stuck in
- Comfortable working around waste, sludge and dirty or unpleasant materials
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
- Reliable, safety-focused and responsible
- Good communication skills and a strong work ethic
Experience with vacuum equipment, sludge pumps, WTR machinery, waste, industrial, quarry or civil work would be an advantage.
