Job Title: Food Quality Technician Job Description The Food Quality Technician performs inprocess analytical and organoleptic testing, audits production and packaging lines for food safety compliance, and ensures that all products meet established quality standards. This role supports both the production floor and the quality assurance laboratory, verifies raw materials and packaging, and documents corrective actions to maintain consistent food safety and product quality. Responsibilities
- Perform inprocess analytical testing on all products manufactured on continuous cooking equipment, including measurement of percent soluble solids, viscosity, and color.
- Conduct inprocess organoleptic and visual inspections on all manufactured products to ensure they meet defined quality and sensory standards.
- Audit cook stations and packaging lines for compliance with HACCP food safety protocols, including verification of weights, seals, temperatures, product coding, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ensure daily food safety and quality of all products produced or packaged by monitoring processes and product attributes throughout the shift.
- Verify that all printed labels and packaging films meet approved standards and specifications provided by the Marketing team.
- Perform annual raw material validations by comparing supplier Certificates of Analysis (COAs) with internal specifications and test results.
- Verify incoming raw materials against Bills of Lading (BOLs) and confirm the accuracy and completeness of associated Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Initiate and document corrective actions by promptly reporting food safety or quality issues to the appropriate supervisor or designated contact and following established procedures.
- Perform environmental swabbing of equipment as required to support sanitation verification and environmental monitoring programs.
- Provide coverage on the production floor and in the quality assurance laboratory as needed to support continuous operations and testing requirements.
- Maintain professional communication across all levels of production and management to ensure timely information flow and effective collaboration.
- Accurately and thoroughly complete all required daily documentation, logs, and records in accordance with quality and regulatory standards.
Essential Skills
- 03 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role, preferably within food plant processes.
- Experience with food quality testing and batch record review in an industry or academic setting.
- Understanding of HACCP food safety principles and their application in a production environment.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and their role in maintaining food safety and product quality.
- Ability to perform and interpret analytical tests such as percent soluble solids, viscosity, and color measurements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing documentation and quality records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with production and management teams.
- Ability to identify food safety and quality issues and follow established procedures for corrective actions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree in a scientific discipline with 02 years of experience in an industry or academic setting.
- Bachelors degree with at least 1 year of experience in an industry or academic setting.
- Experience working in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
- Familiarity with quality assurance processes, including batch record review and documentation control.
- Knowledge of quality assurance tools and practices related to food quality, GMP, and regulatory compliance.
- Willingness to work second shift hours and rotating Saturdays as needed.
- Eligibility to transition to fulltime status with a shift differential incentive.
Work Environment This position operates primarily in a food manufacturing facility and quality assurance laboratory, with regular presence on the production floor and at cook stations and packaging lines. The role involves working around continuous cooking equipment, packaging machinery, and laboratory testing instruments. The standard schedule is second shift, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays as needed to support production demands. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to HACCP protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices, and sanitation procedures. Team members follow facility safety guidelines and quality standards while maintaining professional communication and collaboration across production and management.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
