Job Title: Mission Critical Software Test Engineer

Job Description Join a dedicated team that develops and supports missioncritical software systems for U.S. Navy applications. As a Software Test Engineer, you focus on requirementsbased testing, verification, and validation across the entire software development lifecycle. You work closely with engineers and customers to understand system requirements, build and execute test procedures, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that complex software solutions perform reliably and as intended in highly regulated environments. Responsibilities

- Develop, execute, and maintain formal test procedures derived from software and system requirements.
- Perform manual testing, regression testing, integration testing, and verification activities to ensure software quality and compliance.
- Plan and coordinate test events to support program milestones, delivery schedules, and key project deadlines.
- Track verification progress, identify risks or blockers, and communicate status updates clearly to program leadership and customer stakeholders.
- Analyze test results, document findings, and contribute to requirements closure and compliance efforts.
- Lead test execution activities and coordinate tasking across engineering team members to ensure efficient and effective test cycles.
- Interface directly with government stakeholders and technical teams to discuss test planning, execution strategies, and results.
- Support software integration and troubleshooting activities within a Linux development environment.
- Review system logs, investigate defects, and assist developers with issue replication and root cause analysis.
- Participate in Agile development activities, including test planning, reviews, and sprint ceremonies, to align testing with iterative development.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements that enhance test efficiency, coverage, and overall software quality.
- Help develop test plans and test development strategies that align with program requirements and regulatory expectations.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; an associate degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience writing and executing formal test procedures directly from documented requirements.
- Background in software testing, systems testing, integration and test, verification and validation, or quality assurance.
- Experience coordinating test activities, schedules, and program milestones.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and analytical problemsolving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams and customer stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Comfort working in a Linux environment and using terminalbased tools.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Handson experience with software testing and test engineering practices.
- Familiarity with regression testing of software systems.
- Ability to develop and maintain test plans, test procedures, and test documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience supporting Department of Defense, Navy, defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated programs.
- Familiarity with Agile development environments and methodologies.
- Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar solutions.
- Exposure to C++ applications and modern webbased technologies.
- Military experience in technical or operational roles, such as Fire Control Technician (FT), Electronics Technician (ET), or similar backgrounds.
- Experience supporting requirements verification, validation, or compliance testing.
- Ability to develop test procedures and test plans that align with complex regulatory and program requirements.

Work Environment You work in a hybrid environment that combines onsite and remote collaboration. The role requires working onsite at a Navy Undersea Warfare Center facility on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the remainder of the week performed remotely under normal circumstances. During dedicated test weeks, you spend additional time onsite to support intensive test events, though these weeks are not frequent. You operate in a Linuxbased development and test environment using terminaldriven tools, and you collaborate closely with engineering teams, government stakeholders, and customers. The work focuses on missioncritical, highly regulated systems, emphasizing precision, documentation, and adherence to established processes in a professional technical setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. medical, vision, detal, 401k, holidays etc
