About this role

Our client in the Lynnwood, WA location is currently hiring for a Lab Manager to oversee construction materials and geotechnical laboratory operations. This is a permanent, on-site opportunity responsible for leading laboratory staff, ensuring quality testing procedures, maintaining compliance standards, and supporting business growth initiatives. This position will be a hands-on leadership role managing a team of 4-6 employees while continuing to support laboratory testing activities. Pay - $102,840 - $131,100 annually (depending on experience, certifications, leadership background, and industry expertise) Location - Lynnwood, WA (100% On-Site) Schedule - Standard Monday-Friday (40+ hours per week)

Responsibilities

Lead and manage daily operations of a construction materials and geotechnical testing laboratory Supervise, train, mentor, and develop a team of 4-6 laboratory professionals Ensure testing services are completed safely, accurately, and within project schedules Oversee testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete materials Maintain compliance with laboratory quality programs and QMS requirements Coordinate laboratory staffing, workload planning, and resource allocation Oversee calibration, maintenance, and proper utilization of testing equipment Support proposal development, project scoping, and laboratory service pricing discussions Review laboratory reports and ensure client deliverables are completed accurately and on time Promote a strong safety culture and lead continuous quality improvement initiatives Support hiring, onboarding, and training efforts for laboratory personnel Assist with annual business planning and departmental growth initiatives Build and maintain strong relationships with material suppliers, manufacturers, and project stakeholders

Qualification Requirements

Minimum 7 years of experience in a construction materials or geotechnical testing environment Minimum 3 years of laboratory management or supervisory experience leading teams of 4 or more employees Experience performing and reviewing laboratory testing including:

- Sieve Analysis
- Gradation Testing
- California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Testing
- Hydrometer Testing
- Proctor Testing
- Specific Gravity Testing
- Plasticity Index Testing
- Lightweight Pieces Testing
- Sand Equivalent Testing
- Clay Lumps Testing
- Fracture Face Aggregate Testing Experience utilizing universal testing machines for compressive and tensile testing
- ACI certifications with demonstrated concrete and aggregate testing experience
- NICET certification with asphalt and concrete materials testing experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience
- Valid driver's license may be required

Disqualifiers

No laboratory leadership or supervisory experience Lack of ACI and NICET certifications Limited experience with construction materials testing environments No experience managing laboratory personnel, scheduling, or quality systems Less than 7 years of relevant laboratory testing experience

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $102840.00 - $131100.00/yr.
