Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves designing machines specifically for the baking industry, serving top clients in the sector. You will be part of a dynamic engineering team, contributing to the design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of new machinery. This position offers an opportunity for significant growth and collaboration with our Pennsylvania team.
Responsibilities
- Design detailed bakery equipment and component parts using computer-assisted drawing packages, specifically Solid Edge.
- Modify and redesign existing bakery equipment by creating three-dimensional models and sub-assemblies.
- Ensure drawings meet required engineering and manufacturing standards.
- Complete Bills of Materials by listing drawing numbers for manufactured parts and matching part numbers for purchased items.
- Provide functional guidance and direction to less experienced drafters.
- Advise management on issues that will improve product quality and production processes.
- Provide regular feedback to co-workers, supervisors, and management to ensure efficient operations.
- Participate in and adhere to company policies and programs on occupational health and safety and operating procedures.
Essential Skills
- Associate's degree within an engineering discipline.
- 5-7 years of engineering experience.
- 3+ years of 3D Modeling Design experience using steel, aluminum, stainless steel, sheet metal.
- Experience with stress analysis and GD&T.
- 3+ years of 2D Drafting experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Machine design experience.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis).
- Bachelor's degree within an engineering discipline.
- Experience with BOM (Bill of Materials).
Work Environment
This is an onsite, first-shift role, Monday through Friday, with hours typically between 6 AM and 8 AM start, ending between 3 PM and 5 PM. There is flexibility for remote work for life events post-training period. The role involves approximately 70% desk work and 30% shop floor troubleshooting. The environment is casual, with employees often wearing jeans. The team in Indianapolis consists of four engineers, with plans to double by 2025. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
